System Requirements

Minimum

  • Windows 10 or Windows 11 (64-bit)
  • 8 GB RAM
  • 4 GB free disk space
  • For GPU: NVIDIA GPU with CUDA 12.x support (GTX 10xx or newer)
  • For GPU: CUDA Toolkit 12.9.1 + cuDNN 9.20.0

Recommended

  • Windows 11
  • 16 GB RAM
  • SSD storage
  • NVIDIA RTX 3090 or newer GPU
  • CUDA Toolkit 12.9.1 + cuDNN 9.20.0

No NVIDIA GPU? Privacy Keeper automatically falls back to CPU processing. GPU is approximately 13× faster than CPU on typical hardware (RTX 3090 vs Ryzen 9 7950X3D).

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I install Privacy Keeper?

Run PrivacyKeeper_Setup_3.0.0.exe and follow the on-screen instructions — launch from the Start Menu or desktop shortcut and you're ready to go. The app runs on CPU out of the box, no extra setup needed.

Want it faster? Add GPU acceleration: If you have an NVIDIA GPU (GTX 10xx or newer), installing CUDA makes processing roughly 13× faster. Install both components from NVIDIA — simple exe installers, no manual setup:

  1. CUDA Toolkit 12.9.1 — select Windows → x86_64 → exe (local)
  2. cuDNN 9.20.0 — select Windows → x86_64 → exe (local)

Once installed, Privacy Keeper detects CUDA automatically — restart your PC, then you'll see → Running on GPU (CUDA) in the log. Under Settings → GPU Acceleration you can choose Auto (recommended), GPU-only, or CPU-only. On a 24 GB GPU, up to 8 patches process in a single batch; on 4 GB, it scales down to 1 — efficient on any NVIDIA card.

Verify your setup: Download the test dataset, extract, and click Process. See the manual for the full guide.

Does Privacy Keeper require an internet connection?

No internet connection is required for processing. Face and license plate detection runs entirely on your own hardware. You only need internet for the initial download and license activation. All processing is strictly offline.

Which cameras are supported?

Privacy Keeper supports the footage recorded with the following cameras:

Mosaic 51, Mosaic X, insta360 X5, insta360 X4, insta360 X3, Insta360 Pro 2, Insta360 Pro, Insta360 Titan, GoPro MAX, Applied Streetview, Labpano Pilot One EE.

And all equirectangular JPEG panoramas up to 32K from any 360 camera. See the features page for full benchmarks.

How long does processing take?
Camera Resolution GPU Time*
Mosaic 5112,288 × 6,144 px~9 sec
Insta360 X48,192 × 4,096 px~4.3 sec
GoPro MAX5,760 × 2,880 px~2.3 sec

* Benchmarked on NVIDIA RTX 3090 GPU and AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D CPU. GPU is approximately 13× faster than CPU. See the features page for all cameras.

Is there a CLI version?

Yes. A command-line interface (CLI) is available as an add-on to the Desktop license, for scripting, automation, and server deployment:

Plan Price
Desktop + CLI Monthly€179 / month
Desktop + CLI Annual€1,790 / year
Desktop + CLI Perpetual€6,086 one-time

See the pricing page for all plans and details.

Is there a test dataset to verify my setup?

Yes. Download the free test dataset to verify your installation:

📥 Download Test Data

Extract the ZIP, use the extracted folder as your input folder, and click Process. The expected output will confirm your installation is working correctly. We recommend doing this before processing your own images.

How do I activate my license after purchase?

After purchasing a license from the pricing page, you'll receive a license key by email. Open Privacy Keeper, go to Help → Enter License, paste your key, and click Activate. The license is tied to your computer's hardware ID. If you need to transfer your license to a new machine, contact us.

GPU processing isn't working. What should I do?

GPU acceleration requires CUDA Toolkit 12.9.1 and cuDNN 9.20.0 to be installed separately — the NVIDIA driver alone is not sufficient. If CUDA is missing, the processing log will show:

⚠ GPU detected (RTX 4090) but CUDA/cuDNN not found.
Install CUDA Toolkit + cuDNN via Help → CUDA Installation Guide.

  • Verify CUDA Toolkit 12.9.1 and cuDNN 9.20.0 are installed (see the install FAQ above).
  • Check Settings → GPU Acceleration is set to Auto (not CPU).
  • In Privacy Keeper, go to Help → CUDA Installation Guide.
  • If problems persist, contact support with your GPU model and CUDA version.
Why is my output file size different from the input?

Privacy Keeper automatically detects and matches the JPEG quality of each source image (JPEG quality auto-match is enabled by default). If you've set a manual quality override, the output may differ. To restore the default:

  1. Open Tools → Settings.
  2. Under Output Settings, check Auto-match is enabled.
  3. If the Override box is checked, uncheck it.

All EXIF metadata (GPS, camera, date/time) is always preserved in output files regardless of quality settings.

Can I use Privacy Keeper commercially?

Yes — all paid license tiers include unlimited commercial use. You can process images for clients, in corporate environments, and at scale. The free trial is for evaluation purposes only and includes PanoHopper branding (see below).

Are my original images safe?

Yes. Privacy Keeper never modifies your original files. All processed images are saved to a separate output folder. Each job also produces a log file (privacy_keeper_YYYY-MM-DD_HH-MM-SS.log) recording system info, per-image results, and performance metrics, plus a detections.json with all detection coordinates. Original images remain completely untouched.

Can I try Privacy Keeper before buying?

Absolutely. The 7-day free trial includes all features — face and plate detection, GPU acceleration, manual editing, mask editor, watermarks, and batch processing. No credit card required. Download from the downloads page to get started. During the trial, output images include "© PanoHopper" appended to your watermark text, and trial masks include a PanoHopper logo overlay. Purchasing any license removes all trial branding.

What is your refund policy?

Perpetual license purchases have a 14-day money-back guarantee — request a full refund within 14 days if you're not satisfied.

Monthly and annual subscriptions can be canceled at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — no refunds for the current period.

See our Refund Policy for full terms and how to request a refund.
